Hello everyone!

This is most likely the best time of year for this message! We have had an amazing year! When I think back about 2016 it will be one of the most memorable. There have been some bad moments, and a huge list of loved icons passing away, but there’s so much more going on!

It’s been a monumental year in politics, with the change of President in the USA, and agree or not, Brexit! But, looking back at the positive things – we have had Tim Peake, an astronaut from Sussex coming back from Space, The Queen celebrated her 90th Birthday, Andy Murray crowned No1 in the world, Pokemon getting people wandering around while staring into phones, a meteor shower and Super Moon, the Olympics and the shocking exit of British Bake off no longer running on the BBC!

This month, we have 2 new advertisers- Moksha on page 41 and Synergy Worldwide on page 33 – make sure you check them out! The year is not over! There are so many events happening around Kingston. Christmas Choirs, Concerts, The Craft Fair and lots of shops, (by now) packed with treats for the Christmas festivities! No matter what your faith or beliefs are, it’s a nice time of the year! It’s starting to get cold out there, so please remember those who may be vulnerable! If you need to ask someone if they need help, they most likely do! Don’t ask, just offer! (if there is anything we can do to help, let us know).

On a little personal note, our puppy is now 3 months old….he has tripled in weight and is still stopping traffic with people wanting to say hello to him! He has passed the yelping at night stage, so more sleep is had by all! The door bell has gone, deliveries from Amazon……Ohhh pressies!!! Have a wonderful festive holiday and Ill be raising my glass at New Year’s for you all. In the meantime, please stay safe!
Kind regards John

Omni Local Kingston Winter & Hobbies Edition 2016

The nights are really drawing in, with the summer now looking a long way behind us. This summer was packed with activities, including local, national and even international events. We had a little lull in events, until Halloween and the Kingston Rotary Club fireworks night. As I write this, it’s just over a week away, but I am sure they will have done a great job! The winter is coming, but there is no reason to be sitting still!

There are so many events happening around Kingston. Christmas Choirs, Concerts, The Craft Fair and lots of shops packed with treats for the Christmas festivities! I love the Christmas period. It is a time for family, love and peace to all good men (and women). This month, we have 2 new advertisers- Panels Plus on page 30 and Synergy Worldwide on page 18!You may have also seen a new section, which is thanks to the Rotary Club. Please help us make their adverts count by giving them a call and let them know you have seen their advert in Omni Local.

Also, if you run your own business, you might like to know about our networking events. We are up to 15 groups, which spread across Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, East Sussex and London. Nothing we have achieved has been easy, but it’s thanks to a great team of people, and your support. Thank you so much for keeping us alive! On a personal level, we have just got a puppy at home and all the families and neighbours kids love him. We have had more visitors in one week than we have had all year! It almost feels like Christmas… I just hope the sleepless nights of him screaming for attention start to subside and he feels at home by the time you read this!

Our next issue is all about Christmas….We have no shame about this! It’s a wonderful time of the year, and a time not to forget others in the community. We will be talking about the work that the Rotary do and how you can help everyone in the community at Christmas. In the meantime, please stay safe!

It seems like it’s been a very short time since the summer, but we have been working our fingers to the bone! Although summer is now officially over, (dare I say again) the C word is now starting to show up in conversation – Christmas, of course!

As you will see, we already have an advert for a Christmas Play: Cinderella! But before then, we have Halloween to keep us entertained, and then The Rotary Fireworks coming up on the 4th November, which is going to take place at the Kingsmeadow Athletic Stadium in Kingston Road. For more info please visit –kingstonrotaryclub.org.uk/event/community-fireworksThis month seems to be a bumper month of new advertisers!

Please check out Extension Build London, Mrs Bennett’s Ballroom, The Week, Landmark Arts Centre, Ravinder Healing Energy and Music Heritage London! Please remember, if you need any of the local advertisers services, let them know that you got their details from Omni Local. Without them, we would not be able to carry on! This month’s competition is from the Ultimate Café in Thames Street, which is part of the Ultimate Outdoors sporting equipment store. You can win two of their epic milkshakes (inspired by Freakshakes) for you and a friend.

Please take time to read the review on page 40. I think its refreshing to have something a little different…. For your chance to win one of our Monthly prizes, all you need to do is like us on Facebook and answer the simple question on page 40. I hope you are all prepared for the Autumn Session, wrap up warm when it gets cold, smile when its sunny and hug a loved one with every opportunity you get! We’ll see you in November!

What a busy couple of months we’ve seen in Kingston. Congratulations to IYAF and everyone involved. If you didn’t manage to get to any of the events, you really missed out! Please make sure you get to the next year’s events. They have promised me its going to be even bigger! The fun hasn’t stopped there, with the Kingston Carnival rounding off the summer’s awesome events on the 4th September!

We have been busy as well……The networking business we have set up has exploded! We are now officially up to 15 groups, which span from Heathrow through to Worthing! Our target of getting to 30 groups by Christmas seems a mere question of time.

Oops! – I have done it…..said the C word! – I am looking forward to Christmas this year! Again, Kingston has so much to offer! My favourites are the Eden Craft Fair outside All Saints Church, and the efforts that The Kingston Rotary Club put in with the Santa’s sleigh!

In between them we have the Rotary’s Fireworks to look forward to in November. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled on Facebook for that event!

You will see this month we have a couple of new adverts from The British School of Rock on pg21, Claire Dyson on pg15, an awesome fundraising event from St Raphael’s Hospice which looks like a lot of fun on pg12, and for your web designs Pegasus Creative on pg31.

This month’s competition is from JOY Indian restaurant on page 40! Read the review – We seem to be getting a lot of curry these days. But the quality of each has been great, JOY is up there as one of the best! Congratulations to Tia Smith for winning the meal for 2 from the Boaters Inn, we hope you enjoyed it!

I hope you had a great summer, and thank you so much for your support so far this year.
